When I first played Ori, the first thing that attracted me was the music. Soundtrack of Ori was brought to life by the British composer Gareth Coker. He is also the composer of the music of many games, including Minecraft. Music of the game could be described as “legendary” and “magical” if they could be summed up in two words.
The musical themes, which are in harmony with the hopeful but touching stories of the characters in phosphorescent colors and sparkling worlds, take their place in one’s heart.
The sequel to Ori, “Ori: And the Will of the Wisps” is a game where boss battles take the lead and we see more epic battles. For this reason, the music has evolved to higher tones just like in the HornBug piece, where the bass sounds of the strings rather than wind instruments and the piano as a percussion string instrument are heard. Copper wind instruments, on the other hand, become more prominent especially in Shriek and Ori.
Created by Moon Studios, founded in Vienna in 2010, Ori undoubtedly deserves detailed game reviews. On the other hand the Ori album by itself is rich and powerful enough to act as a gigantic door opening to our imagination through our headphones on a long journey by train.
Listen to it! Even if you don’t like video games… Music will take you to a completely different place. To new, bright and adventurous places… Just like my mother, your parents will be fascinated by this music and will give you a new fairy-tale journey to take together. Thanks Gareth Coker, you are a true legend!
